The City Development Plan contains many guidelines that provide specific directions on what type of development is or is not permitted in the city.

You'll find these guidelines under the following chapter headings in the Plan: Guiding Principles, Development Standards, Development Management Objectives and Land Use Zoning.

These guidelines contain a range of useful information. They include detailed directions on land use zonings and the range and scale of permissible development in the city. They also cover guidelines on good quality architecture, the elements that make up a successful neighbourhood, definitions of high buildings and so on.

This guidance is intended to make clear to any person interested in development in the city what is required in order to meet the goals of the Development Plan.
