Narrator: The Council has made measurement and transparency key features of the new Development Plan. It will produce annual progress reports based on measurable objectives and specific sustainability indicators. It will appoint a dedicated Development Plan Team to oversee the implementation of the plan. It will include a "Sustainability Toolkit" in all local area plans to help translate long-term goals into short term actions. It will promote and implement the land use zonings and guidelines contained within the plan. Most importantly, it will take a leadership role in collaborating and engaging with citizens and city partners, to make sure the plan is implemented.

Narrator: There are many more initiatives too. For a comprehensive list, check out the City Development Plan in print or online at dublincitydevelopmentplan.ie.
Dublin City Council is committed to implementing the policies and objectives of the Development Plan. To achieve this, it has set out new ways of working and new mechanisms to ensure the Plan is implemented effectively.
Most importantly, the core strategy will be applied across all future area-specific plans, namely the city's 'local area plans' and 'schematic masterplans'.
The Plan also contains many specific guidelines, definitions, examples that explain how specific development should be pursued in the city. These cover issues like land use zonings, the range and scale of permissible development, what makes a successful neighbourhood, definitions of high buildings and so on. These will be applied to all planning applications to ensure that any development is in line with the overall vision for the city.
In order to measure progress, a range of sustainability indicators has been devised to monitor city development. Every year, a report will be prepared for the City Council tracking and recording progress based on these indicators.
And through existing networks and bodies, the City Council will engage with citizens, thinkers, agencies and other stakeholders to create a two-way communication on the Plan and its delivery.
